Spectrophotometric-Continuous Flow Injection Analysis(S-CFIA) For The Determination of Cobalt(Π) Ion in River&Alloy Samples Via The Use of 10,10-Dimethyl 9,9-Diacridinium Dinitrate Salt-Hydrogen Peroxide in Alkaline Medium

A newly spectrophotometric analytical method characterized by it is speed and sensitivity was developed for the determination of Cobalt ions in pure, river water and alloys, using homemade continuous flow injection. The method is based on the oxidation of Lucigenin by hydrogen peroxide in alkaline medium to produced N-methyl acridine which gives with Co(Π) a red-brown color complex(λmax=405nm). Linear dynamic range for the absorbance versus Cobalt(Π) concentration was 0.0-100µg.ml-1, the percentage linearity (r2%) was 99.39%, while the L.O.D (S/N=3) was 1.2ng/sample from the step wise dilution for the minimum concentration of lowest concentration in the linear dynamic ranged of the calibration graph with L.O.Q was 6ng/sample. R.S.D% for the repeatability (n=8) was 0.6% for the determination of Cobalt(Π) with concentration of 10µg.ml-1, through put 40 sample.hr-1, sample volume 150µl. The method was applied successfully for the determination of Cobalt(Π) in different samples. A comparison was made between the newly developed method of analysis(S-CFIA) with classical of analysis using the standard addition method via the use of paired t-test. It shows that there was no significant difference at α=0.05(95% confidence interval) between the two methods. Therefore, the newly developed method can be adopted as an alternative method for the analysis of Cobalt(Π).

Indirect Spectrophotometric Method to Determination of Capoten In Pure Form and Commercial Tablets Based on The Chelate Formation with Nickel (II)

A simple and accurate spectrophotometric method for the determination of capoten is applied. The procedure was based on the chelate formation with nickel(II) in acidic buffer medium. The complex has a maximum absorption at 617 nm. The optimum conditions for the complex formation were ascertained and the method was developed for the determination of capoten in the concentration range of (20–60) mg/L. The empirical formula of the formed complex was determined, by applying different spectrophotometric methods, at optimum pH of (3-5) and an ionic strength of µ equal to 0.5 M. The stoichiometric ratio was found to be 2:1 of Capoten-Nickel (II) complex as calculated by continuous variations and the mole ratio methods. The continuous variations method was applied for the determination of the conditional stability constant of the formed red complex and was found to be 3.27x107. The proposed method was found to be suitable for the determination of capoten in pure form and in its commercial tablets.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a gynaecological disease that has multiple connections with many diseases. It has been estimated that myocardial infarction is more likely in patients with PCOS. The effect of serum calcium and magnesium on the risk of heart diseases is not yet established. In this work, the lipid profile (total cholesterol TC, triglycerides TG, and very low-density lipoprotein VLDL, and high density lipoprotein HDL-C), serum magnesium, and calcium have been estimated in PCOS patients in comparing with control group. Different atherogenic ratios ((TC/HDL-C, LDL-C/HDL-C, TG/HDL-C, and Log (TG/HDL-C)) were calculated to obtain the best indicative ratios for the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The results showed that there is a significant increase (p<0.05) in TC, TG, and VLDL in PCOS patients as compared with control group. While HDL and serum calcium is decreased significantly (p<0.05) in patients group in comparing with control group. No significant change in serum magnesium and Ca/Mg ratio between both groups.
