The research aimed to determine the Knowledge training needs for date palm orchards owners with the palm stalk borer insect and some control,and determine the relationship between the level of need knowledge of some control methods for the date palm orchards owners and some independent factors, namely(agriculture control methods, photo traps control, chemical control method) and needs for knowledge in each axis of the axes of the control the palm stalk borer insect .The research aimed to determine as well the most important problems that facing the date palm orchards owners in Al housinya region-holy karbala province.
For the purposes of research, the researcher developed a test to measure the need for knowledge training for date palm orchards owners with the palm stalk borer insect control in a way(to choose a suitable alternative) which are (52) items distributed on (6) axis in two main space with three axes in the knowledge training for date palm stalk borer insect(insect description(7)paragraph ,insect life(10)paragraph,symptoms diagnosis(8)paragraph) and three axes in the knowledge training in some insect control methods(agriculture control methods(9)paragraph, photo traps control(10)paragraph, chemical control method(8)paragraph).
Has one degree been given for the correct answer, and zero for the wrong answer ,and the highest score on the test is (52) and the lower grade is (0) zero.
Data were collected from 6/20 to 2014/8/22 mediated by questionnaire and personal interview in a manner of proportional stratified random simple of date palm orchards owners which are (2995) orchards owners total, by (2%) and by (60) orchards owners selected from (50%) of the agricultures cooperatives societies in Al housinya region by (6) societies.
The second part of the questionnaire contain the most important problems that facing the date palm orchards owners with the palm stalk borer control in Al housinya region.
The result showed that the average scores for the general knowledge training for date palm orchards owners reached (25.41) degree and (%78.34) of the respondents were in the medium and hi level concerning the palm stalk borer insect and some control methods.
The results also showed that the knowledge training needs was medium in the some control methods for the palm stalk borer insect at the rate of ( %56.67), while the knowledge training need for the palm stalk borer insect was low at the rat of (%45).
The results also showed that the knowledge training needs for date palm orchards owners in each axis of palm stalk borer insect control (agriculture control methods(%63.4), photo traps control methods(%48.4), chemical control method(%65)).
Concerning the problems that facing the palm orchards owners in Al housinya region-holy Karbala province in palm stalk borer insect control, the very expensive service for control came at the first important problem for the date palm orchards owners.
The researcher recommends that it is necessary to work to meet the knowledge training of date palm orchards owners in the date palm stalk borer insect and control methods through the preparation and implementation of seminar guiding intensive training and specialized means responsibility of the Ministry of agriculture/Extension service the department and to in cooperate with the plant protection office to increase the palm orchards owners knowledge in this insect , and some control methods.
The results also recommends for aid supporting and activation the plant protection to supply the date palm stalk borer insect control requirements lowest price.
